Make suggestions about the forum here! Even if things are good, there's almost always a way to improve them!

Not so much a suggestion, more a rant. Every time I get an email update it is always blocked "for my safety" lol

Will I be banned if I cut and paste any helpful, interesting, or funny things from KP onto here?

Sorry to be soooooooooooooo confused. It's my lot in life. . .
But, I don't know what these things mean from the rules:
Forum Privileges 1.Keep your signature under 300px high. That can be a combination of text or images, but that's your lot. I don't have any idea what this means.
2.Some sections have posting restricted to 'Regular' members. A regular member has been a member for at least two weeks and posted 50 times in that space. Once you've reached this mark, you can apply to be a 'regular' member, but you can lose your 'regular' status if you don't post for a week.
On the "knitting" sections, this shows up:
Members On This Board
You cannot create threads. You cannot reply to threads. You cannot create polls.
So, I don't understand how I should make posts -- let alone 50 of them -- if I'm not allowed to create or reply to threads in the knitting section. When I am allowed, will there then be a button/function where I will be able to write in some kind of message box?
PS. . . I'm really glad you've created this forum as a peaceful alternative to KP.

300px is an internet measurement--what's one inch on my screen might be three inches on yours, or vice versa, depending on which one of us has more money to buy a fancy screen. But 300px is 300px no matter what.
And I'll look into what's going on with the restrictions, I have no idea why it's being dumb about that.

I really don't get it. I went and looked at the settings again, and I'm certain they're set to 'members and staff', meaning anyone, as long as they have an account. Plus you got bumped up to regular anyway. What board is it exactly that won't let you post?

This is an extremely quick reply, and I've had a bad night so forgive me if I can't point to chapter and verse. As the very first "newbie" I did look at all the rules and regs. I am fairly sure I read the bit about "50 times in two weeks" thinking, gosh, I'll never be able to do that to become a regular. Then I re-read it and realised (I think) that it meant "50 times" really. Then I found that I had been bumped to a regular anyway. It might be a bit harsh and off-putting to totally new newbies to say 50 times?
I did post here something about the "Cast On Baby" video on youtube which I had learned from Somewhere Else, and wasn't banned! Thanks Tal

50 posts in two weeks is less than four posts a day. Your first day, you managed 12! I could definitely rephrase it, but basically it's:
1. Be a member for 2 weeks. 2. Have 50 posts.
If it takes you four weeks to make 50 posts, then it takes you four weeks to become a 'regular', but you could've done it sooner if you'd posted more.
Help me condense that into something that makes sense?
And since the forum is brand spanking new, I gave everybody regular status early.

When I am excited, I post a lot! And I like novelty.
What about:
1. Be a member for at least two weeks 2. Have 50 posts
?
Then it it is fair either way? If anyone has bipolar disorder and is on a high, they may hit the 50 post mark in a couple of hours, but a two week period is a reasonable "try-out" for a newbie to decide whether it's the right place to be, and for regulars to decide whether a newbie is fun/eccentric/nice/whatever. Then, of course, if any regulars get snitty, there are other rules.
