my poor kitty has been attacked AGAIN, getting seriously fed up with this now, altho this is the worst yet.
I have a feeling that the big ginger tom cat is behind it all (it hasn't been neurered) but i can't find out who owns it.
Anyway, he's been kind of off his food the past couple of days but i just put that down to the heat, but kept a close eye on him, he's been drinking plenty so i wasn't overly concerned until last night.
He had been out in the garden and when he came in i went to pet him and he damn near took my hand off. I managed to get a look at him and saw a large black mass under his fur on his back so i assumed it was a large cut. So i got him to the vet first thing this morning.
The vet had to sedate and give him a local aneasthetic because even when asleep he was waking up and trying to bite the vet when he went to touch his back. So once the aneasthetic and sedation took proper effect the vet had to shave all his fur off his back, turns out the black mass is BRUISING! he also has a very large abcess on his back that the vet had to lance. So now he has no fur on his back, severe bruising and a 2 inch hole on his back. The vet called to let me know what exactly was wrong and we decided between us because i have another cat and a dog it would be best for them to keep Hogan there for a couple of days as his wound on his back needs to be kept very clean and flushed out every couple of hours which would be impossible for me to do here.
The vet thinks whats happened is that this other cat has had muck under it's claws when it's attacked Hogan and thats why it has developed into an abcess. I'm so angry, this is the 4th time now that i have had to take hogan to the vet because of this cat, it's the second "serious" type of injury he's had.
I can't find out who owns it, it has no collar on and runs if i go near it. I've called the SSPCA but am waiting for someone to call me back which will probably be on Monday now. I had to cancel the insurance i had for all my pets (as well as all my other household expenses) due to the child support agency not paying me my child maintenance this month (isn't that sod's law) so i am now dreading the bill for his treatment, i know i won't be able to pay it in full, so will have to come up with a payment plan with the vet.
I'm going to get insurance in place as soon as i can afford it "just in case" but i'm just soooo annoyed my poor furbaby is suffering again.
