Hi there. . . What's everybody making? I just finished a shrug for myself.
Hi, everyone!!
I just finished a shrug for myself -- which you might find some humor in, since it's over 100F (38C) here for the last couple of days. But it's nice to have a little something to put on when you're sitting by an air conditioner vent. In fact, I did the weaving in of ends during my knitting group's meeting and then put it on. And I'm working on two hats: one quite plain, a little on the large size, because I make them all sizes. The other is being made from some quite ancient -- like 40 years old? -- yarn that I found in the back corner of some of the donated-to-me stash -- orlon. It's quite hard on the hands, but it'll hold its shape nicely -- and probably be pretty impervious to rain.
So, what are you making?

well i'm still taking it pretty slow after my op but i am in the middle of 2 puzzle piece afghans that were auctioned for autism charities, it's taking me forever and i still have to decide wether to back them with something or not. If i am honest i will never do another one of these LOL it's taken me so bloomin long to even get halfway through these it's starting to get frustrating now. I know if my friend asks me to do something else for other auctions/sales she has coming up it will probably end up being several different dishcloths with the puzzle piece logo on them instead of full blown afghans
I also have a wrap on the needles for me this time, i've knitted all this stuff for other people but never done anything for myself so decided it was about bloody time i did LOL plus there's the odd dishcloth here and there so i don't get bored with doing one thing at a time

I pick things up and down as the mood/ability takes me, using woven baskets with linings to isolate/gather them up. At the moment and beside my feet, I have a load of cotton dishcloth squares in different colours. Snuggled in with the squares are a pile of knitted leaves I made a few weeks ago to use up some soft green yarn. The general idea will be to sew a leaf in the centre of each square, then end up with a patchwork baby blanket.
Across the back of the sofa where I sit is a random collection of freeform pieces which will eventually become a wall-hanging or two.
In one corner of the room is a basket of "dicke deck" squares. I've made a couple of these now, in different sizes and kinds of yarn. I love the name - it's German - and if you haven't come across this afghan, it's on Ravelry. Very simple idea made very effective.
Next to that basket lives the hexi-puff basket which is gently multiplying. My previous beekeeper's quilt was in very thick yarn, this is dk/worsted.
And my project of shame is sitting in the dining room, All it needs is blocking, seaming and the neckband finishing. Its a pullover I started at Christmas for my elder son - in a beautiful discontinued Rowan yarn which is a wool/linen/silk mix. He'll get it sometime - at least it's a kind of all-seasons pullover.
